About Chicago Face Lifts
A facelift removes excess skin, tightens and lifts sagging cheeks, jowls and the neck. There are many techniques that are available. These techniques include the deep plane facelift, the short scar facelift, and the SMAS plication facelift. Dr. Michael J. Lee will discuss the different types of facelifts that will address your particular concerns. Dr. Lee emphasizes natural, soft results and hidden scars.
Age is often not the most important criteria. Premature aging in the jowl area or neck can occur in the mid 30s in some patients or not until the 70s for others.
Incisions can be placed in the sideburn hair or slightly in front of the sideburn and travel in front of the ear, behind the ear and into the hairline. Sometimes incisions are placed beneath the chin to correct loose muscle underneath the neck. Dr. Lee will show you where your incisions will during your pre-operative consultations.
Facelift results usually last for 10-15 years.
Male Facelifts
Facelifts among men are becoming more popular. There are some small differences between men and women when it comes to facelifts. The incisions need to be placed differently, as men are more likely to have some hair shifted to below the ear after the procedure. Overall, the procedures are performed in essentially the same manner and have similar results and longevity.
